One of the key texts which encouraged English colonization of the Americas, especially around the area that would become known as Chesapeake Bay. This edition has a deliberately anachronistic style, with the long s used throughout and being printed on dark faux-aged paper. Ink binding stamps of a Boston bindery (cannot make out) and Bayntun on front free endpaper verso.

London: Cassell & Company, 1883. Octavo. Bound in three-quarter brown morroco, raised bands, spine lettered in gilt, marbled endpapers, top edge gilt. Binding extremities noticeably rubbed. Outer leaves and page edges sometimes spotted or starting to fox. Very Good-. Item #362
