New edition of what had become the standard book on business accounting in the English-speaking world, first published in 1738 and being issued in eight editions overall. The present Third Edition introduces new material on British trade with the American colonies, e.g. exports to the colonies on page 232 and trade with Maryland and Virginia on pages 233-255. Other topics include numismatics, Africa and the East Indies Trading Co., and details of specific products imported and exported from each nation and colony. Owner ink inscription on final leaf of book: "John Barkers book 1807". Names "Lysander Stevens" penciled to front pastedown and "Philip Stevens" penciled to page 205.

Binding moderately worn and rubbed, boards detached despite reinforced hinges, lacks any free endpapers. Pastedowns with both period and modern annotations; moderate toning and dampstaning to pages, occasional period annotation; title page with section at top excised and repaired with remnants of an ink inscription visible.
