True first edition of Baum's Santa Claus, with the chapter headings: "Book First; Book Second; Book Third", and lacking in-text illustrations save for the dedication page and first contents page. The illustrations, as expected, tend to be a bit fuzzy as the registration was off for much of the print run.

Indianapolis: Bowen-Merrill, 1902. Illustrated with 20 plates on glossy stock by Mary Cowles Clark, including the title page. First Edition. Publisher's red cloth decorated in white, green, black, and tan. Moderate binding wear and fading, with hinges and joints cracked (may detach with shipping or handling; rear worse); spine tips with a bit of cloth loss; slight spine lean. Christmas sticker on front free endpaper, name inked to front flyleaf; volume opened exposing webbing at least between pp.100-101; gentle toning, mostly to edges of pages.
