Life of the introducer of the Society of Friends, or Quakerism, to Ireland. Of American interest for the description of three trips he made to America, in 1671, 1675, and 1683, including descriptions of some of the Indian Wars in Rhode Island during this period. Edmundson had previously fought in Cromwell's Parliamentary army, and would eventually be imprisoned under James II for protesting the treatment of Irish Protestants. The Dublin issue of the work is considered the first edition, with this London issue following later in the same year. Provenance: inscription on front free endpaper: "Richard Leavers Book - 1793"; above is "R.L. 1793", crossed out. Richard Leaver is likely a Quaker who was the object of the following title attributed to William Howitt: Commemorative Verses, Addressed to the Friends of Richard Leaver, of Mansfield: Who Suddenly Expired in Greasley Bible Meeting, 9th Month, 23d, 1817.
