The second edition of an extensive biography of Genoese admiral and politician Andrea Doria (1466-1650), largely recognized as one of the most influential figures in seventeenth-century naval history. Lacks one of the copper-engraved plates called for in this printing. Provenance: two red stamps of the Bibliothèque du Grand Juge on the title page and following leaf, one round blue stamp to title page largely erased (causing a small hole), but most likely belonging to the Bibliothèque des Travaux Historiques.

In Vinetia [i.e. Venice]: Gabriel Giolito di Ferrarii, 1569. Illustrated with copper-engraved portrait facing page 1 (of two copper-engraved plates). [22], 188, [2] pp. Quarto (204x150 mm). Early limp parchment. Binding rather worn with some minor losses. Minor foxing (mostly to edges of pages), occasional light dampstains, a few bits of early underlining. Good+. Item #494
